Katrine Wonsbek

I’m Katrine, and I am currently working as a research assistant in the Quintana lab. Before joining the lab in March 2025, I completed my BSc in Exercise and Sport Science and my MSc in Human Physiology at the University of Copenhagen, where I developed a strong interest in metabolic regulation, particularly cellular Metabolism and adipose tissue dynamics. For my master’s project at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR), I investigated how mitochondrial phospholipid cycling in adipose tissue can influence systemic metabolic health. I now work in the Quintana lab, focusing on the localisation of T. brucei within adipose tissue and how infection affects tissue morphology and metabolic function. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking and gardening, as well as all creative activities, particularly knitting.
