Amelia Higham (left) and Maria Macveigh (right) completed their UG dissertations in the lab co-supervised by Jessica Costa and Chloe Barnes, respectively, and they did an amazing job! Well done!
About their experience in the lab, Maria said "It was very easy for me to enjoy working in this lab as the group are so supportive and friendly. I felt I had the guidance to learn new steps as well as the space to try things for myself in undertaking this project". Amelia said "Working in the lab was a fantastic opportunity and an indispensable experience from start to finish. A highlight for me was learning to perform immunofluorescence staining on delicate brain slices and visualising the results using confocal microscopy. The supportive environment made it easy to ask questions and develop my skills, and I always felt guided and supported throughout every experiment. I am particularly grateful to Dr Jessica Costa for being an incredible mentor throughout. I wholeheartedly recommend this lab to anyone looking for a rewarding and well-supported research environment."

This week (11th to 15th of May 2026) we hosted Liv Williams from Lancaster Girls' Grammar School for a work experience placement in the lab - she did a terrific job helping us all, pictured here helping Katrine prepare samples for flow cytometry!

Chloe Barnes presented her work on intestinal responses to chronic T. brucei infection at the British Society for Parasitology conferencence in Glasgow (April 2026)

Anmoyul, Jessica, and Juan travelled to Oxford in April 2026 to attend the Oxford glymphatic & brain clearance symposium hosted at Keble College
